Long-Term Stability of Nitrifying Granules in a Membrane Bioreactor without Hydraulic Selection Pressure

چکیده

To understand the long-term stability of nitrifying granules in a membrane bioreactor (GMBR), module was submerged an airlift reactor to eliminate hydraulic selection pressure that believed be driving force aerobic granulation. The monitoring results showed structure could remain stable for 305 days GMBR without pressure; however, majority granule actually inactive due mass diffusion limitation. As consequence, active biomass free limitation only inhabited top 60–80 µm layer granules. There dynamic equilibrium between bioflocs and membrane, i.e., 25% attached on surface within last nine backwash cycle synchronization with emergence peak soluble extracellular polymeric substances (sEPS), concentration around 47 mg L−1. Backwash can eventually detach return these bulk solution. However, rate fouling did not change biofloc attachment. In certain sense, investigated this study functioned similar fashion as integrated fixed-film activated sludge thus defeated original purpose development. problem sEPS production should key areas focus future research.

Long-Term Stability of Low-Pressure Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Operation—A Pilot Scale Study

Reverse osmosis (RO) elements operating at a low pressure (LP) or a low energy (LE) are generally called “LPRO” or “LERO”, and the nomenclature “LP” and “LE” are convertible due to the interrelated features of the pressure and the energy in the RO process. Not only can LPRO be operated at lower pressures, which enables energy saving, but also at the standard operating pressure with an enhanced ...

Fast formation of aerobic granules by combining strong hydraulic selection pressure with overstressed organic loading rate.

The combined strong hydraulic selection pressure (HSP) with overstressed organic loading rate (OLR) as a fast granulation strategy was used to enhance aerobic granulation. To investigate the wide applicability of this strategy to different scenarios and its relevant mechanism, different settling times, different inoculums, different exchange ratios, different reactor configurations, and differe...

Long-Term Stability of a Cellulose-Based Glucose Oxidase Membrane

A cellulose-based glucose oxidase membrane was prepared on a glassy carbon (GC) electrode. The current response of the electrode to glucose was measured by applying a potential of 1.0 V vs. Ag/AgCl on the base GC and was proportional to the concentration of glucose up to 1 mM. The long-term stability of the electrode was examined by measuring the daily glucose response. Over four months, the re...

Development of Membrane Bioreactor to Membrane Electro-bioreactor for Advanced Treatment of Wastewater

Limited available water resources have rendered wastewater reuse an important issue to specialists in most developed countries, today. The current study works on membrane filtration for treatment of industrial wastewater. By comparing the two methods of membrane bioreactor (MBR) and hybrid membrane electro bioreactor (MEBR) processes, it finds that earlier fouling in the membrane occurs in the ...
